Editor's Note

Assalamu Alaikum,

There are days when the heart feels heavy.

Nothing may be obviously wrong.

You have food.
You have shelter.
You have people around you.
Life is moving along.

Yet something inside still feels empty.

Sometimes, what the heart is missing isn't another achievement, another purchase, another vacation, or another hour scrolling through a screen.

Sometimes, the heart simply misses Allah.

We spend so much of our day remembering everything else.

Deadlines.
Bills.
Messages.
Appointments.
Problems.
Plans for tomorrow.

But how much of our day is spent remembering the One who gave us the day in the first place?

This is the beauty of Dhikr—the remembrance of Allah.

Dhikr doesn't require wealth.

It doesn't require a special place.

It doesn't even require much time.

Your tongue can remember Allah while you're driving, walking, working, waiting, or lying in bed.

And every SubhanAllah, every Alhamdulillah, every Allahu Akbar and every La ilaha illa Allah is another moment when your heart turns back toward its Creator.

Today's brew is about remembering Allah in a world constantly trying to make us forget Him.

Let's begin.

📖 Quran Reflection

Those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.”

Surah Ar-Ra'd (13:28)

We spend much of our lives searching for peace.

We think:

Maybe I'll feel better when I make more money.

Maybe I'll finally relax when this problem goes away.

Maybe I'll be content when I reach that next goal.

But Allah tells us where the deepest tranquility of the heart is found:

In remembering Him.

Dhikr doesn't mean your problems suddenly disappear.

The bills may still be there.

The uncertainty may still be there.

The test may still be there.

But something inside you changes.

Because when you say SubhanAllah, you remember Allah's perfection.

When you say Alhamdulillah, you remember His blessings.

When you say Allahu Akbar, you remember that Allah is greater than whatever is worrying you.

When you say La ilaha illa Allah, you remember what your entire life is ultimately about.

And when you say Astaghfirullah, you remember that no matter how many times you've fallen, the door back to Allah remains open.

The circumstances around you may not have changed.

But the heart facing those circumstances has.

🕌 Hadith of the Day

The Prophet () said, "The example of the one who celebrates the Praises of his Lord (Allah) in comparison to the one who does not celebrate the Praises of his Lord, is that of a living creature compared to a dead one."

— Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari (Hadith 6407)

Think about that comparison.

Living and dead.

That is how important Dhikr is to the spiritual heart.

A person can be physically alive—working, eating, laughing, traveling, earning—but their heart can become distant from the One who created it.

Dhikr brings that heart back to life.

And it can begin with something incredibly small.

One sincere:

Alhamdulillah.

One:

Astaghfirullah.

One:

SubhanAllah.

One moment where, in the middle of a busy day, you stop and remember:

Allah is here. Allah sees me. Allah knows me. And eventually, I will return to Him.

💡 Quick Islamic Wisdom

You don't need hours of free time to become a person of Dhikr.

Start by filling the small empty spaces of your day with the remembrance of Allah.

While driving:
SubhanAllah. Alhamdulillah. Allahu Akbar.

When something good happens:
Alhamdulillah.

When you make a mistake:
Astaghfirullah.

When you're worried about the future:
Hasbunallahu wa ni'mal wakeel.
“Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.”

When you're amazed by something Allah created:
SubhanAllah.

Before going to sleep:
33 × SubhanAllah
33 × Alhamdulillah
34 × Allahu Akbar

And one of the greatest forms of Dhikr:

La ilaha illa Allah.

There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah.

Don't underestimate these small moments.

A tongue that regularly remembers Allah can help cultivate a heart that regularly remembers Allah.

🤲 Dua of the Day

The Prophet ﷺ taught Mu'adh ibn Jabal رضي الله عنه a beautiful dua and advised him not to leave it after prayer:

“O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You in the best manner.”

Sunan Abi Dawud (Hadith 1522)

Notice what we're asking Allah for.

We're asking Allah to help us remember Allah.

Even our ability to make Dhikr is a blessing from Him.

So if you feel distant from Allah, ask Him to bring your heart back.

If your tongue rarely remembers Him, ask Him to make Dhikr beloved to you.

And if your heart has become distracted by the dunya, ask Allah to redirect it toward what truly matters.

Final Sip ☕

One day, everything keeping us busy will stop.

The emails will stop.

The meetings will stop.

The bills will stop.

The notifications will stop.

The plans will stop.

And our time in this dunya will come to an end.

What will matter then is not how busy we were.

It will be how connected we were to Allah.

So don't wait for the perfect moment to remember Him.

Remember Allah while driving.

Remember Allah while walking.

Remember Allah when you're happy.

Remember Allah when you're hurting.

Remember Allah when life gives you what you wanted.

And remember Allah when life doesn't.

Because the heart was created by Allah.

And no matter how much of the dunya we pour into it, nothing can replace its need for its Creator.

A heart that remembers Allah is a heart that is alive.

So keep your tongue moist with His remembrance.

And let your heart find its way home.

Until tomorrow,
Stay steadfast on the Straight Path.
