Assalamu Alaikum,

There are things you carry that nobody else knows about.

Worries you don't talk about.

Dreams you're afraid won't happen.

Mistakes you regret.

People you're worried about.

Questions about your future that you simply don't have answers to.

You might explain these things to someone you love, but even they can only understand so much.

Allah understands all of it.

Before you find the words.

Before the tears fall.

Before you even raise your hands.

Allah already knows what is inside your heart.

And yet, He still invites you to ask Him.

That is the beauty of Dua.

You don't need an appointment.

You don't need someone to introduce you.

You don't need perfect Arabic.

You don't even need to know exactly what to say.

You simply turn to Allah and ask.

Today's brew is about one of the greatest gifts Allah has given us:

The ability to call upon Him directly.

Let's begin.

There is something beautiful about this verse.

Allah says:

“I am truly near.”

Sometimes we think our problems are too small to bring to Allah.

Other times, our problems seem so enormous that we wonder whether anything could possibly change.

But Allah doesn't tell us to calculate the probability.

He tells us to call upon Him.

Make dua when you're afraid.

Make dua when you're hopeful.

Make dua when you need guidance.

Make dua when you've sinned.

Make dua when something seems impossible.

And make dua when everything is going well.

Because dua isn't only about asking Allah to change your circumstances.

Dua is about recognizing Who controls them.

Think about that.

Every time you sincerely make dua, you are worshipping Allah.

Why?

Because asking Allah acknowledges something fundamental:

I am weak, and Allah is powerful.

I am dependent, and Allah is independent.

I don't know what tomorrow holds, but Allah does.

Dua is an act of humility.

You raise empty hands toward the One who owns everything.

And sometimes the greatest thing dua changes isn't your situation.

It's you.

Sometimes we make dua for something repeatedly and wonder:

Why hasn't Allah answered me?

But an unanswered dua is not necessarily an ignored dua.

The Prophet ﷺ taught that a Muslim who makes a proper supplication will receive one of three outcomes: Allah may grant what was requested, save its reward for the Hereafter, or avert an equivalent evil from the person.

So your dua is never wasted.

You may ask Allah for something today and receive it tomorrow.

You may receive it years later.

Allah may protect you from something you never knew was coming.

Or you may meet Allah on the Day of Judgment and discover rewards waiting for duas you thought went unanswered.

So keep asking.

Allah hears every one.

One of the most comprehensive duas taught in the Quran is:

Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina 'adhaban-nar.

It's a remarkably short dua.

But think about what you're asking for:

Good in this life.

Your family.

Your health.

Your provision.

Your faith.

Your peace.

Your future.

And then:

Good in the Hereafter.

Forgiveness.

Mercy.

Safety on the Day of Judgment.

And ultimately:

Jannah.

Make this dua often.

But also remember:

Dua doesn't always have to be long.

Sometimes all you have is:

“Ya Allah, help me.”

And Allah knows everything contained within those four words.

There may be something you've been asking Allah for a long time.

Don't give up.

There may be something you stopped asking for because you thought it wasn't going to happen.

Ask again.

There may be a sin you think you've committed too many times.

Ask for forgiveness again.

There may be a future you're afraid of.

Place it before Allah again.

Because you are not calling upon someone with limited resources.

You are calling upon Rabb al-'Alamin — the Lord of all worlds.

The One who created the heavens and the earth.

The One who knows what is hidden inside your heart.

The One who can change your circumstances in ways you could never predict.

So raise your hands.

Call upon Him.

And then trust His answer.

Because sometimes Allah gives you exactly what you asked for.

Sometimes He gives you something better.

Sometimes He makes you wait.

And sometimes He protects you by not giving you what you thought you needed.

But no sincere dua is ever wasted.

Keep asking.

Keep hoping.

Keep returning.

Allah is near.

Until tomorrow,
