Assalamu Alaikum
The Battle Nobody Else Can See
Your alarm goes off for Fajr.
One part of you says, Get up.
The other says, Five more minutes.
And somehow that second voice is an excellent negotiator.
Welcome to mujahadah—the quiet struggle against your own desires.
☕ THE MORNING SIP
Some of life's hardest battles don't look very dramatic.
Getting out of bed when you're tired. Staying calm when you're angry. Closing the app you've been scrolling for 45 minutes. Doing what you know is right when doing literally anything else sounds better.
Islam recognizes this struggle.
Our nafs wants comfort now. Discipline asks us to think about what matters later.
And that's the thing about self-discipline: nobody may applaud it. Most of the time, nobody even knows it happened.
But Allah does.
📖 QUR'AN REFLECTION
Allah says:
“As for those who struggle in Our cause, We will surely guide them along Our Way. And Allah is certainly with the good-doers.”
— Qur'an 29:69
Notice the order:
Struggle. Then guidance.
Sometimes we're waiting to feel more motivated before changing. But growth often starts with taking the first step while motivation is still asleep.
🌙 HADITH OF THE DAY
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Paradise is surrounded by hardships, and the Fire is surrounded by desires.”
— Sahih Muslim
That's basically the human experience in one sentence. The better choice isn't always the easier one.
Sometimes Jannah is on the other side of simply telling yourself:
“No.”
🧠 QUICK SIP
Self-discipline isn't about becoming a productivity machine.
It's about learning that your desires can make suggestions, but they don't get the final vote.
Tired? Pray anyway.
Angry? Hold your tongue.
Tempted? Walk away.
Distracted? Come back.
You won't win every round.
Just don't stop fighting.
🤲 DUA OF THE DAY
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself.”
— Qur'an 3:8
Because discipline matters—but ultimately, we still need Allah's help to stay firm.
☕ FINAL SIP
Some of your most important victories will never make a sound.
Nobody sees the haram you resisted, the anger you swallowed, the prayer you got up for, or the habit you're quietly trying to leave behind.
No audience. No applause. Just you, your nafs, and Allah knowing which one won today.
Until tomorrow,
Stay steadfast on the Straight Path.
