The Place Weโre All Trying to Get Home To
Jannah
Assalamu Alaikum,
Everyone has their version of the perfect life. A beautiful home. No alarm clock. Great food. Zero stress. Maybe a suspiciously empty inbox.
Islam tells us something better exists.
Jannah.
And unlike every โdream lifeโ we build here, this one doesn't eventually come to an end.
โ THE MORNING SIP
The Qurโan describes Jannah with gardens, rivers, beautiful homes, abundant food, peace, and happiness.
But then Allah tells us something important:
โNo soul can imagine what delights are kept in store for them as a reward for what they used to do.โ
โ Qurโan 32:17
In other words, Allah gives us glimpses. The full experience?
Beyond our imagination.
Which is saying something, considering humans invented heated car seats.
๐ HADITH OF THE DAY
The Prophet ๏ทบ narrated that Allah said:
โI have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined.โ
โ Sahih al-Bukhari & Sahih Muslim
Think of the best thing you've ever seen. Jannah is better. The best thing you've ever heard. Better. The happiest you've ever felt. Still better.
Our imagination apparently doesn't have the necessary hardware.
๐ด WHAT'S NOT THERE
Some descriptions of Jannah become even more powerful when you notice what's missing.
No sickness. No aging. No exhaustion. No resentment. No grief. No death.
And Allah says:
โThey will hear no idle or sinful talk thereโonly โPeace! Peace!โโ
โ Qurโan 56:25โ26
Imagine an eternity where nobody ruins your morning before you've even finished your coffee.
We may be onto something.
๐ง QUICK SIP
Life here comes with an expiration date.
The house gets older. The vacation ends. People change. Bodies weaken. Even the happiest moments eventually become memories.
Jannah is different. Nothing good ends.
And perhaps that's why the dunya never completely satisfies us. Maybe we weren't created to be completely satisfied here.
๐คฒ DUA OF THE DAY
โOur Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.โ
โ Qurโan 2:201
"Rabbana ฤtinฤ fid-dunyฤ แธฅasanatan wa fil-ฤkhirati แธฅasanatan wa qinฤ โadhฤban-nฤr
A short dua covering a very long future.
โ FINAL SIP
Jannah isn't just gardens, rivers, and beautiful homes.
It's finally living without fear of losing what you love. No final goodbye. No last day. No countdown.
Just peaceโand the pleasure of Allahโwithout an ending.
Maybe that's why Jannah doesn't feel like a destination.
It feels like home.
Until tomorrow,
Stay steadfast on the Straight Path.
